On the west of Cathedral Square is a group of palaces of various periods; the Palace of Facets (Granovitaya Palata)--so called from the exterior finish of faceted, white stone squares--was built in 1487-91.

The cathedral was built in 1899-1909 by the architect Horotetskyi. The building is placed on one of the central streets (Chervonoarmiyska st.), and it can be easily recognized by its distinctive Gothic style and a pair of beautiful needle towers.

Forms the top of the Cathedral 's cross shape and is the most richly decorated part of the interior. This is where Wren's workmen started building. Minor Canons' Aisle.

St Paul’s Cathedral , the greatest Church of England, was built in the 17th century by Sir Christopher Wren. There are a lot of memorials in the cathedral including those to Wellington and Admiral Nelson.

Many banks, offices and firms are concentrated the-re. The Tower and St. Paul's Cathedral are in the centre.
